From the recording Northern Lights in Virginia
Lyrics
The night the northern lights came to Virginia
I was standing on my front porch in the cold
Imagine my surprise when I opened up my eyes
And saw the skies had turned pink and gold
I said these cannot be the northern lights
I’m south of the Mason Dixon line
There must be another explanation
Perhaps I have finally lost my mind
Or maybe there’s a forest fire burning
With giant flames casting a giant glow
Maybe this is the second coming
Maybe I should pack my things and go
In the morning, onthe front page of the paper
A color photograph said it was true
The Northern Lights had come down to Virginia
Most of us didn’t have a clue
Now, to those who don’t believe in miracles
To those who say that science can explain
To those who think that God is not creative
To all of them I have one thing to say
I saw the Northern lights in Virginia
Miracles happen every day
